Yesterday I met a stranger. Today this stranger is my friend. If I hadn't
taken the time to say hi, or to smile back, or to shake hands, or to listen,
I wouldn't have come to know this person.
Yesterday I gave hugs to people I love. Today they are gone, and tomorrow
won't bring them back. Wouldn't it be nice if we could know that we'd still
be here tomorrow? But that can't happen, so, take time today to give a hug
to someone, or to smile and say "I care."
Just for today, smile at someone you don't know; really listen when someone
talks to you; drop a coin where a child can pick it up; learn something
new and share that knowledge with others; tell someone that you think of
them; give a loved one a hug; don't bear a grudge; don't be afraid to say
"I'm sorry"; look into a child's eyes and tell them how fantastic they are.
Don't kill that spider in your house - perhaps it just got lost; show it an
escape route. Look past someone's face at their heart; make a promise and
keep it; call or visit someone, just to say "Hello!" Stick to your
principles; smell the rain; feel the breeze in your hair and listen to the
wind in the leaves of a tree; be kind to animals and listen to the singing
of the birds. Use all your senses to their full potential; appreciate and
enjoy today.
